RCAMES Conversational Focused Formation for Educators Talks (RCAMES CoFF-E Talks)
RCAMES Conversational Focused Formation for Educators Talks (RCAMES CoFF-E Talks) is a series of succinct discussions on timely subjects and themes relevant to the educational system to meet the personal and professional needs of Catholic educators of member schools.
In addition, it provides a forum for the exchange of innovative and brilliant ideas and best practices among educators of RCAMES.
School administrators, fellow educators, and other experienced resource persons can be invited to serve as speakers for the talks.
The platform adopts a similar format and principles used in TED Talks®, which is a “suite of short, carefully prepared talks, demonstrations and performances that are idea-focused, and cover a wide range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration and wonder – and provoke conversations that matter” (https://www.ted.com/participate/organize-a-local-tedx-event/before-you-start/what-is-a-tedx-event).
Some of the key principles on the format include:
Talks should be given under 18 minutes
The goal is to communicate an idea effectively
Focus on 1 idea per forum
Ideas to be presented need to be developed in a way that it can be new or surprising, or can challenge how audience thinks or accepts a belief, or can be a basic idea with a compelling new argument behind it
The speaker does not have to be the foremost expert on a topic but he/she does have to be an expert in the topic as the giving of accurate information is necessary
When using slides, use simple slides that help clarify information to the audience
After the talk, a 60-minute workshop/writeshop follows.
As the forum aims to enrich the personal and professional experience of Catholic educators, the CoFF-E Talks shall take into consideration the 5 domains discussed in the Philippine Catholic School Standards (PCSS). This is to serve as guide for making the content and approach that are supportive in strengthening the identity and mission as a Catholic diocesan educational system.
The 5 domains are:
1. Catholic Identity and Mission
2. Leadership and Governance
3. Learner Development
4. Learning Environment
5. Operational Vitality
